About Us

Inspired by the legacy of Senator John McCain and his family, the McCain Institute fights to advance freedom, prosperity, security and human dignity for the benefit of all Americans and the world.

Targeted violence* and hate crimes, sometimes referred to as domestic terrorism, are among the most persistent and lethal threats to the United States. To empower communities to stand up to hate-based violence, the McCain Institute has formed the Preventing Targeted Violence Program. This program consists of student innovation challenges, creation of a prevention practitioners’ network, this Screen Hate campaign and more.

Screen Hate seeks to increase the online safety of teens and young adults by educating caregivers, concerned adults, friends, and teachers about the risks of recruitment into violent extremist movements with advice and resources for prevention and assistance.
